The district is set to have 100 e-governance service centres, monitored by village poverty reduction centres, here by the year end. This is bound to improve the quality of governance and administration, said Collector T.P.Rajesh, after inaugurating an e-governance service centre here in Shoolagiri.
To promote transparency and prevent red tape, the district administration launched the e-governance service centre along with a village learning centre in Shoolagiri.
Mr. Rajesh said that the move would usher in transparency and also prevent red tape in the processing of requisitions for certificates such as income proof and community proof. Earlier, people had to frequent taluk offices or office of the VAO and wait for the certificates. However, with the e-service centres, the circuitous process may be avoided, he added.
All beneficiary proof for various social welfare schemes may be applied through the e-governance service centres on payment of not more than Rs. 30 for the application process. The service centres are being operated by the supervisor appointed with the village poverty reduction centres.
The administration envisions setting up of 25 e-governance service centres by the end of November, and 61 service centres by December end. This is slated to take the total number of centres to 100 here in the district.
