Bird flu: special committee constituted


With prevalence of bird flu in Alapuzha district in Kerala, a special monitoring committee of Animal Husbandry officials was constituted to monitor shops selling chicken and duck meat in Cumbum and Gudalur areas in the district here on Thursday.
The team will monitor the entire district and pay special attention to these two blocks as consumption of eggs of duck and hen were high there.
The committee will also monitor state borders at Kumuli, Cumbum Mettu and Bodi Mettu and check eggs transported from Kerala.

In case of any death of birds, the public may inform the Joint Director of Animal Husbandry through 94450 01122 for quick action, according to a press release from the Department of Animal Husbandry.
